Wholesale Sterling Silver Bangles: Buying Guide
Fixed bangles or open cuffs? How to choose wholesale sterling silver bangles, what weight does to price, which plating to pick and how to size a first order.
Why bangles are a different buy from bracelets
Bangles and cuffs are a rigid band worn on the wrist, and that changes how you buy them. There is no chain to adjust, no clasp to fail and no length to guess. The customer sees a solid piece of metal, so the shape, the width and the surface decoration do all the selling. This guide is for boutique and online shop owners who want to stock wholesale sterling silver bangles and need to know which style suits which customer, how weight drives price, and how to build a first order that is small and sensible.
Everything below is based on what we make at Ruvolla, a 925 sterling silver supplier with its own workshop in Fatih, Istanbul. Every piece is stamped 925. If you are also looking at chain and charm styles, our bracelets collection and our bracelets buying guide cover those.
What our bangle range looks like
Our bangles collection is a small, focused one: 9 designs in total, made up of 2 fixed-band bangles and 7 open cuffs. We would rather say that plainly than pad it. If you want to sell silver bangles wholesale, you are choosing from a short list, and that makes a first order easy to plan.
Fixed bangles
A fixed bangle is a closed band that slips over the hand. Our two fixed designs are dainty enamel bangles, one blue and one orange, each weighing about 8.35 grams. They are the lighter, more decorative end of the range and suit customers who want colour on the wrist. Because a closed band has one internal size, check the dimensions on the product page and show them in your own listing, so customers know what to expect.
Open cuffs
An open cuff has a gap at the back, which lets it flex to fit a range of wrist sizes. That is the main reason cuffs are the easier line to stock: one design covers many wrists, and you avoid the "do you have it in a bigger size?" question. See the cuff bangles for the full set.
Our 7 cuffs carry symbol patterns rather than stones: Greek symbols, pyramids, runic lettering, spiritual symbols and a skull design. They weigh between about 11.35 and 15.9 grams, with most near 12 to 13 grams. Several are written up as unisex, so they work for shops that sell to men and women.
Weight and price
Silver is priced by weight, and bangles are heavier than most jewelry. Our bracelets run from about 1.6 grams for the lightest chains, while a cuff is around ten times that. Plan for the difference:
- Fixed enamel bangles weigh about 8.35 grams. Prices start at about $41 per piece, depending on the model and plating.
- Cuffs weigh roughly 11 to 16 grams. Prices run from about $50 to about $71 per piece, depending on the model and plating.
Exact prices, with your chosen plating, are shown to approved trade accounts. The practical point is that a bangle is a higher-ticket item than a chain bracelet or a pair of studs. Your first order should carry fewer designs and be chosen with more care.
Choosing plating and micron
All our bangles start as 925 sterling silver. Plating is optional and chosen per order: 14K gold, rhodium or rose gold, with gold plating available in thicknesses from 0.10 to 4 micron. Plating is priced per gram, and because bangles are heavy, the plating cost on a cuff is noticeably higher than on a light chain.
A bangle takes knocks. It sits at the wrist edge, rubs on desks and sleeves and meets other bracelets and watches. For daily wear we recommend 1.00 micron or above on any gold or rose gold finish. Rhodium gives a bright white finish and works well on cuffs meant for everyday use. A thin 0.10 to 0.25 micron layer is fine for an occasional-wear piece or a lower price point, as long as you are honest with customers about what to expect. Our gold plating micron guide explains what each thickness means.
Leaving a design unplated is also an option and keeps the cost down.
Fit and sizing
Fit is the most common reason a rigid piece does not sell. A few habits help:
- Put open cuffs first in your range. They flex to fit, so one design suits many wrists.
- Show the inner width or diameter of each piece in your listing, in centimeters and inches.
- For fixed bangles, offer them as a gift or display piece rather than a fit-critical purchase, and be clear about the size.
Selling bangles and cuffs
Stackable cuffs and bangles are a steady look on Instagram and Etsy listings, and they pair well with finer chain pieces. A few ways to sell them:
- Show a cuff next to a thin chain bracelet so customers can see how the widths work together.
- Group symbol cuffs by theme: runic, Greek and spiritual. Customers buy symbols for meaning.
- Use the unisex designs in a men's or gifting display.
- Photograph on a wrist or a wrist form as well as flat, because a rigid band can look like a plain ring on a white background.
A sample first order
Our minimum is 5 pieces per design, and you can mix designs and plating finishes freely. A minimum order value is shown in your cart as you build the order. With only 9 designs, a first order is easy to size:
- 3 cuffs in different symbol patterns (for example Greek symbols, runic and spiritual symbols)
- 1 unisex cuff for a men's or gift display
- 1 fixed enamel bangle for colour
That is 5 designs at 5 pieces each, 25 pieces in total. Mix a rhodium finish on some cuffs with 14K gold at 1.00 micron or above on others to see which your customers prefer. For more planning ideas, read our first wholesale silver order guide.
Orders are made to order. After payment is confirmed, we ship within about a week, whatever the quantity. International transit then takes about 3 to 7 business days to Europe on top of that. See shipping for the terms.
How to start
If you are new to wholesale, read our wholesale guide for the full order process. You can request a sample: it is made in a different metal and shows design, size and finish, not the silver itself, and you pay the shipping. Prices are visible to approved trade accounts, so the first step is to apply for a trade account. You can browse the bangles and cuff bangles before you apply.
