Silver Jewelry Price per Gram in Turkey: How Wholesale Prices Are Set
Wholesale silver jewelry in Turkey is priced by weight. Here is what goes into the price per gram, typical weights for rings, earrings and chains, and how to compare quotes from different suppliers.
The short answer
In Turkey, wholesale 925 sterling silver jewelry is priced by weight. The price of a piece is the silver it contains, at the day's silver price, plus a labour charge per gram, plus anything extra the piece needs: stone setting, enamel and plating. That is why two rings that look similar can have different prices, and why a supplier asks for the design or the product code before confirming a price. At Ruvolla, most catalogue designs come to about USD 14 to 28 per piece, depending on weight; light earrings and charms sit below that range, and chains and bracelets above it.
Buyers ask us this question in many forms: "what is your price per gram", "how much is silver jewelry per gram in Istanbul", "is the price per piece or per gram". This guide explains how the price is built, so you can compare quotes properly.
What goes into the price of a silver piece
| Part of the price | What it covers | What changes it |
|---|---|---|
| Silver | The 925 sterling silver in the finished piece | The weight of the piece and the silver price on the day |
| Labour per gram | Casting, cleaning, polishing, assembly, quality check | How complex the piece is: a plain band is quicker than an openwork pendant |
| Stone setting | Setting cubic zirconia, moissanite or other stones | Number and size of stones, setting style (pave takes longest) |
| Enamel | Hand-applied colour | Number of colours and the area covered |
| Plating | Rhodium, yellow gold or rose gold finish | Standard plating or a stated micron thickness |
The first two parts are what people usually mean by "price per gram". The others are added per piece, so a gram of a pave ring will always cost more than a gram of a plain band, even when the silver is the same.
Typical weights by product type
Weight drives price, so it helps to know what a typical piece weighs. These are middle values from our own catalogue of around 2,400 designs in 925 sterling silver:
| Product type | Typical weight (middle half of designs) | Median |
|---|---|---|
| Charms | 1.8 to 3.7 g | 2.6 g |
| Huggie and hoop earrings | 2.6 to 4.6 g | 2.8 g |
| Pendants | 2.8 to 4.6 g | 3.6 g |
| Anklets | 3.2 to 5.0 g | 3.6 g |
| Earrings | 3.7 to 5.0 g | 4.1 g |
| Rings | 2.8 to 4.8 g | 4.3 g |
| Bracelets | 2.6 to 5.0 g | 4.4 g |
| Necklaces | 3.8 to 7.5 g | 5.1 g |
| Tennis bracelets | 3.9 to 11.2 g | 7.7 g |
Every product page on our site shows the average weight of that design, and we can send the full product list as an Excel file, so you can see weights before you order.
Plain silver or plated: what changes
Plain 925 sterling silver, with no plating at all, is a popular choice for buyers whose customers want the natural silver look. Our catalogue designs can be made in plain silver on request, and each piece is still stamped 925. The price is confirmed once you send the product codes.
Plated pieces add a finish on top of the silver:
- Standard plating (rhodium, yellow gold or rose gold) is included in our catalogue prices.
- Micron plating is a thicker, stated layer, from 0.10 micron up to 4 microns. It is priced per piece on top of the catalogue price, because the extra gold depends on the size and shape of each design. Our micron guide explains which thickness suits which price point.
- Gold vermeil means a thick layer of gold, at least 2.5 microns in the US definition, over sterling silver. See gold vermeil manufacturing for how we make and price it.
Price per gram for custom designs
For custom manufacturing, where we produce your own designs, the price is built the same way, but you see each part separately. The silver is charged at the Istanbul daily silver price with no markup on the metal, and the work is charged per gram on top. Stone setting, plating and any modelling from sketches are quoted per design. Custom work starts at 20 pieces per design, with no mould fee on production orders.
How to compare quotes from different suppliers
A low price per gram on its own tells you very little. When you compare suppliers, ask:
- Is the price per gram for the silver only, or for the finished piece? Some quotes leave out labour, stones or plating.
- Is the silver 925, and is every piece stamped? Lower silver content makes a lower price per gram easy. You can check 925 silver yourself, and ask for a test report with your order.
- What plating is included, and how thick is it? "Gold plated" can mean a flash coat or 2 microns. Ask for the number.
- What is the weight of each design? Two suppliers quoting the same price per gram can send very different pieces if one makes them lighter.
- What does the first order need? Minimum order, pieces per design and whether you can mix designs.
- How long does production take, and what does shipping cost? A good price with a six-week wait may not suit a shop that needs stock for a season.
Frequently asked questions
What is the price of 925 silver jewelry per gram in Turkey?
It depends on the piece. The price per gram is the silver price on the day plus a labour charge, and stones, enamel and plating are added on top. For our catalogue, most designs come to about USD 14 to 28 per piece; send us the product codes and we confirm the exact price.
Is wholesale silver jewelry in Turkey priced per piece or per gram?
Both. The price is calculated from the weight, but most catalogue suppliers, including us, quote a fixed price per piece so you know the cost of each design before you order.
Can I buy plain 925 silver jewelry without plating?
Yes. Our catalogue designs can be made in plain 925 sterling silver on request, stamped 925. The price is confirmed when you send the codes.
Why does the same weight cost more for some designs?
Because the work is different. Stone setting, especially pave, enamel and openwork take more time than a plain band, and thicker plating adds more gold.
Is Turkish silver cheaper than silver from other countries?
The silver itself is priced on world markets, so the metal costs much the same everywhere. What differs is the labour, the finishing quality and the minimum order. Read is Turkish silver good quality for more on what Turkish workshops are known for.
